Automatic guitar tuner

I completed this project as my final project in my engineering class in high school with two other students. We were responsible for various aspects of the project, including the design of the tuner, the coding to match the played notes with the correct guitar key, and the mechanical aspects, particularly the motorization of the system.

My primary role was designing the tuner, including the piece that fits into the guitar key and turns it. I used SolidWorks to run simulations and determine the appropriate materials, which ended up being PLA, and 3D printed the piece. I also created and assembled the box for the motorization and designed the system that translates the arm movement to the other keys of the guitar.

We used a standard guitar and a mobile tuner app to test the accuracy of our tuner. The electronics were implemented using Arduino, and we used a microphone and Fourier transform to analyze the played notes' frequencies. The motorization used a step-by-step motor for greater precision.

This project allowed me to work extensively with SolidWorks and use workshop machinery to build the system.
